Powered by AC power supply. Does not use batteries. Unit needs to face in the direction you want to detect motion. There will also be limited detection from the sides and rear. It also can announce visitors with a melody of birds, frogs and waterfall sounds. These relaxing sounds can also be played whenever you want a soothing background sound.
